I Can't Breathe 2021
I believe art is our way to document our time, and everything we are experiencing, I've utilized in this recent performance work to document the pandemic in real time. This performance not only addresses the pandemic, but also emphasizes how vulnerable we are. It represents me and every other American who has had to witness people dying because they were unable to breathe; it also represents all we've seen and experienced, including George Floyd's death and many more. This performance allowed me to reflect on the loss that many people have suffered, as well as the impact it has had on my peers, and to accept the truth that the worst was yet to come. As an artist with a weakened immune system, I felt compelled to participate and share what I've witnessed and how it affects our emotions.
