This is a work of Systemic Art. The lines and squares with their colors and numbers are a mathematical cognitive system of colors and shapes. The pieces are marked
by the strict non-random repetition of color-number combinations. 'Four Probabilities' is a work emancipated from hues and the aesthetic color mixing. This kind of work is not aimed at chromatic harmony; it is discrete repetition based on a system that deals with colors, shapes, and numbers. The work consists of four pieces representing the four probabilities and a fifth piece that is the result
of the four operations digitally printed on wooden pieces measuring 80x100cm and 120x100 cm.
The strategy of the work is based on a mathematical system that utilizes addition of numbers from 1 to 10. Each number has its own distinctive color, and the system is based on probability. For the numbers (1-2) the possible permutations are (1,2), (2,2), (1,1), (2,1) with no fifth possibility. The same goes for this work and the set of numbers (1-10) as follows:
Either (1-10) and (10-1)
Or (1-10) and (1-10)
Or (10-1) and (1-10)
Or (10-1) and (10-1)
No fifth possibility exists for the addition operations.
All the respective operations are different despite the commutative property of the addition operation (1 +2=3 and 2+ 1 =3) because the visual output is different due to the ordering of the colors.
A passing peek that does not analyze the work and deeply contemplate it would not arrive at the essence of this work and thus would not appreciate its aesthetic quality. This work allows the viewer to get involved at a higher intellectual level.
